The all-new Optima puts Formula 1-level shifting at your fingertips. Literally. Kia's Sportmatic "paddle shifting" technology allows a fully automatic transmission to function like a manual transmission for a sportier driving experience. With Sportmatic, drivers can hold a specific gear when driving uphill and downhill, hold gears for faster acceleration, and downshift to enhance passing capability. Drivers can also switch in and out of manual mode at any speed, start in second gear for better traction in slippery conditions, and up-shift earlier to keep revs down and conserve fuel.

Kia's automatic transmission is one of the world's most advanced automatic transmissions that will learn and adapt to shift points to you the driver. The transmission also has advanced technologies that will improve fuel economy, adjust for every day wear, and also put you in control of the shifts.

Next Generation, driver activated 'Active ECO System' optimizes engine and transmission management to reduce fuel consumption at the push of a button on the steering wheel.

Available twin-scroll turbocharger and intercooler boosts horsepower to an impressive 274 horsepower (+54 horsepower greater than the Buick Regal Turbo) and 269 lb.ft of torque (also greater than the 2011 Buick Regal Turbo) while at the same time achieving outstanding 9.2L/100km city and 5.8L/100km highway (...also better than the 2011 Buick Regal Turbo). Twin-scroll technology is a more advanced turbo design that reduces 'turbo-lag' associated with traditional turbochargers, while at the same time boosting peak performance.
